WHO WE ARE

Music For Wellbeing CIC sets up and runs safe, fun, inclusive, music-based activities, designed to rebuild self-confidence, self-esteem, and strengthen mental wellbeing in older members of our community.

Music For Wellbeing CIC was formed following the COVID-19 pandemic, and works with strategic partners and funding organisations to provide opportunities for older members of society who may feel lonely, isolated or diminished.

Music For Wellbeing CIC has a National remit, and in partnership with organisations and funding bodies, aims to provide activities throughout England and Wales, at no cost to participants.

Our primary activity, SingSwingSing!, focuses on the development of stylistic performance skills to build self-confidence and encourage the formation of new friendship and community support groups.

Our repertoire of activities is constantly evolving and expanding, but all use music as a tool to reduce social isolation and restore self-esteem.

Our most recent project - SingSwingSing! Hinckley,

funded by IM Properties, was the most successful yet.

Sincere thanks to IM Properties and Hinckley Park Community Fund

Our Activities

All our activities are designed to encourage a healthier lifestyle, and strengthen physical and mental resilience in people aged over 60.

Vocal Health & Development Drop-in

Held prior to the main SingSwingSing! workshops, our 30 minute Vocal Health & Development sessions (Drop-in!) are an interactive, fun introduction to looking after your voice.  Warming up, correct breathing technique, vocal maintenance & improvement exercises, how diet, exercise, rest, and hydration all affect the voice is covered.

SingSwingSing! 8

In our eight week Swing Era Vocal course, we have singers (Sing!) and 'audience' (Don't Sing!) participants.  Singers chose their own song, work on it with music industry professionals for 6 weeks, and in week 7 perform for their family and friends.  In week 8, our group engage with their local community, by taking their performance into a local care home.

'Audience' members enjoy music and song; enjoy social interaction based around a common interest; learn by proxy; provide feedback to the singers; feel confident enough to become a singing participant in future.

SingSwingSing! 10

Our most ambitious programme offers an extension to our 8 week course, with the addition of more performance opportunities.  In SingSwingSing! 10, following the week 7 performance for family and friends, our group of singers visit 3 local care homes to perform for their residents.
